Orchard Place is a not-for-profit organization serving children and their families. Our mission is to develop strong futures for children and youth with mental health and behavioral challenges. By interceding early with appropriate care, we develop stronger futures for our young clients. To accomplish this goal, we operate three operating divisions:

  • The Orchard Place Campus division provides 24-hour inpatient care for children with a serious emotional disturbance needing intensive treatment. The Campus provides an individualized treatment program including individual and family psychotherapy, social skills building, and life skills training.


  • The PACE Center division provides community based services to meet the needs of at-risk youth who have been unable to be successful in school or the community. PACE serves these youth and their families by providing service that develop social, academic, and functional life skills, allowing for positive growth of youth and their families. Additionally, the PACE Center promotes whole child wellness for children facing behavioral and emotional challenges through the Integrated Health Program (IHP). IHP serves families and youth by listening to needs and providing resources based on these needs to create a team of support for children and their families.


  • The Child Guidance Center division promotes community mental health through multiple professional mental health services for children, youth and their families and to those persons and organizations influential in the emotional development and well-being of children. Child Guidance is an accredited children’s Community Mental Health Center providing outpatient services by a multi-disciplined staff in the fields of child psychiatry, clinical psychology, clinical social work, nursing, and child development.


The Fifth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services is a community-based correctional agency which provides a variety of services to approximately 8,000 offenders in South-Central Iowa. We provide supervision and treatment to offenders prior to conviction, post conviction, and for offenders in residential settings. We utilize evidence based practices to achieve our Vision of "A Fifth Judicial District with No More Victims".

Amerigroup is a Managed Care Organization (MCO) providing health care coverage and coordination to Iowa Health Link members.

ASK Resource Center is a family-focused nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower individuals with disabilities and their family members. We provide individualized support, collaborative advocacy, training resources, and leadership development for Iowa families of children with disabilities or special health care needs and the professionals who support them

Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles") ages 5 though 14. we develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people. Big Brothers Big Sisters helps children realize their potential and build their futures. We work to nurture children and strengthen communities.

Blank Children's Hospital is completely dedicated to meeting the unique health care needs of children. Blank Childrens is an 108-bed environment that embraces and encourages families to be a part of their child's healing and recovery. We embrace a family-centered care philosophy where families are recognized as the most important part of a child's healing process.

The Child Assault Prevention (CAP) Project is an outreach educational program provided to local schools through Blank's Center for Advocacy and Outreach.

STAR Center is a child advocacy center that works as a Team with experts in child health, development, and welfare to provide services to increase resiliency and promote well being.

Broadlawns Medical Center has served as the safety net hospital for Polk County since April 1924, ensuring access to high quality affordable healthcare for everyone. For children and adolescents, we provide a full spectrum of services including psychiatric evaluation and counseling for children between the ages of 5 and 18. Our providers have experience treating a variety of mental health conditions such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, trauma and obsessive compulsive behaviors. EMDR, Play Therapy, Family therapy and psychological evaluation are also available.

Catholic Charities is a multi-service, non-profit agency providing programs addressing Poverty Reduction, Food Insecurity, Emergency Shelter and Homelessness, Domestic Violence, Sexual Abuse, Refugee Resettlement Services and Counseling, Support and Education.

The mission of the Central Iowa Trauma Recovery Center is to enhance the process of healing and recovery for survivors of trauma and loss through intensive mental health services, advocacy and innovative supports.

Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) is a program to support quality child care throughout the State of Iowa. CCR&R is available to assist families in selecting child care providers who best meet the needs of a child and their family. Child Care Consultants provide on-site consultation to licensed preschools, centers, non-registered home providers, and the Child Development Home providers. The Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) is the regulatory agency for early childhood care and education. CCR&R supports providers in complying with state regulations. Training in a variety of topics is offered to child care providers to not only meet licensing/registration requirements but to also improve the quality of care. CCR&R's collaborate with other community partners regarding child care issues in Iowa.

Childserve provides specialized clinical, home and community-based services to improve the lives of children and families. WE specialize in pediatric rehabilitation and care for individuals with a wide variety of developmental , behavioral and health-care needs.

Children & Families of Iowa (CFI) provides an integrative and trauma-informed approach to serving individuals, families and couples with behavioral health needs. Our integrative approach includes mental health and substance use services, along with domestic violence advocacy in one setting in order to reduce barriers to treatment for those served. Mental health services are provided for ages zero through the lifespan utilizing evidence-based practices such as CPP (Child-Parent Psychotherapy) and EMDR to support healing from trauma and enhance attachment. CFI has two behavioral health settings in the Des Moines area, along with our Cornerstone Counseling Center in Ankeny. CFI also has a satellite office in Fort Dodge.

The Coalition for Family & Children's Services in Iowa was founded in 1979 to provide an organized vehicle for member agencies to improve services and impact policy through combined resources and a unified voice. The Coalition's members provide a safety net to children and youth who have been, or are now, in danger of being abused, neglected, or delinquent; and children and youth with mental health or substance abuse needs. Member agencies serve children and families in all 99 Iowa counties.

Live Resilient promotes the act of resilience by centralizing the 5 pillars of resilience, trauma informed care to include historical trauma, and goal setting. Goal setting is embodied by the Resilience Planner and journal.

Community Support Advocates has an Integrated Health Homes, Service Coordination, Case Management, Integrated Services, and Resources and Referral line. We serve Polk, Warren, Dallas, Story and Jasper counties. Our mission is Partnering for growth and resiliency.

The State Chapter of Association for Play Therapy, promoting play therapy as an evidenced-based, developmentally appropriate treatment option. Provides play therapy specific trainings state-wide.

The Victim Assistance Section of the Office of the Attorney General of Iowa was established in 1989 to provide services and assistance to victims of violent crimes. Victim Assistance administers programs that directly benefit victims of crime, including those that assist victims with the financial burden resulting from injuries of crime, that assist local crime victim service programs, and that assist the criminal justice system in holding offenders responsible for the effects of their crimes.

Iowa Chapter of Children's Advocacy Centers (ICCAC) is a non-profit organization, accredited by the National Children's Alliance, as a state chapter to provide support, training and guidance to the six Children's Advocacy Centers (CACs) in Iowa and their professionals who provide onsite services to child victims of either physical or sexual abuse as well as neglect.

Specialized court system within the 5th Judicial Court District. Juvenile Court Services work with youth who have been referred by Law enforcement due to alleged delinquent acts. These services focus on accountability, rehabilitation, and safety for community youth.

Prevent Child Abuse Iowa is a statewide, non-profit focused on empowering community prevention efforts to ensure safe and happy childhoods. Prevent Child Abuse Iowa provides advocacy, awareness, training and technical assistance on child maltreatment prevention, child sexual abuse prevention, adolescent pregnancy prevention, adverse childhood experiences, resilience and protective factors.

Project Iowa provides transformational programs for individuals looking to grow personally & professionally. Our holistic approach connects individuals to their purpose and meaningful stable employment.

Shine Light on Depression is a free turnkey web based tookit for school communities and community based organizations with free, ready to use resources to help raise awareness of depression and prevent suicide among youth.

From their website "Criminal justice is an exciting and rewarding career choice for those who desire to find employment in a field which offers variety and new challenges on a daily basis. Individuals involved in criminal justice have opportunities to make contributions to their communities as well as society as a whole. Southwestern's criminal justice program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for entry-level employment in the areas of law enforcement, courts, and/or corrections. The program provides an interdisciplinary sequence of study merging the liberal arts and technical studies into a well-balanced curriculum. This program does not replace the training requirements of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA), however completion of the program can make students eligible for the eight-week ILEA."

Y Supportive Housing Campus is a community solution to help eliminate homelessness by providing hope, dignity and support in the form of permanent supportive housing. This Housing First Model helps people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness move into stable secure permanent housing supplemented by on site supportive services.

The Young Women's Resource Center (YWRC) supports, educates, and advocates for young women ages 10-21. We offer small groups and individual support focused on self-esteem, healthy relationships, and reproductive health. Teen moms receive additional support focused on parenting skills and education.

The Youth Law Center advocates on behalf of children of Central Iowa to improve their well-being through policy work, collaboration with community partners and in court. Our agency takes a multi-disciplinary approach and is staffed by attorneys and caseworkers who collaborate to provide a holistic, comprehensive legal services plan for the social, emotional, educational and legal welfare of the children we represent.

Zero To Three is a national non-profit agency focused on the development and well-being of all children under the age of three. Safe Babies Court is a local project aimed at combining judicial leadership and systemic interventions to best meet the needs of the children and families entering child welfare because of safety concerns. Safe Babies Courts provide community coordination, training, consultation, and resources to families and the community in which they live. The Safe Babies Court utilizes resources within the community to meet the social-emotional, developmental, environmental, and cultural needs of families served within the child welfare system.
